WHO WE ARE
ABOUT/FOUNDER BIO
FBC Alliance was founded by Don Brumfield, a technology executive with more than three decades of enterprise leadership at some of the world’s most complex global organizations. We deliver senior CIO and CTO-level technology leadership, AI Strategy & Readiness, Digital Transformation, and IT Optimization for PE-backed, growth-stage, and enterprise organizations navigating critical inflection points - acquisitions, platform modernizations, AI adoption, and operational scaling challenges where the stakes are too high for generic consulting.

FBC Alliance engages a network of senior technology executives, solution partners, and functional specialists, giving clients access to the right expertise at the right level, without the overhead of permanent executive headcount.
We don’t just recommend. We take accountability for outcomes.
Donald Brumfield - Founder, Managing Partner & Board Chair

Don Brumfield founded FBC Alliance after more than three decades as a technology executive at some of the world’s most complex global organizations. He serves as Managing Partner and Board Chair of FBC Alliance, Corp., overseeing both the firm’s client work and its corporate governance as Governance Committee Chair. His career has been defined by a single consistent discipline: technology must serve the business, not the other way around.

Don served as Vice President of Technology at Heidrick & Struggles International, a $1.3B global professional services firm, for nearly eleven years, leading technology across 60+ offices in 42 countries. During his tenure he designed and executed a self-funding transformation roadmap generating $47M in annual operational savings while enabling revenue growth from $439M to over $1.3B. As Executive Director of Enterprise Informatics at the Blue Cross & Blue Shield Association, he transformed a failing analytics cost center into a nationally recognized platform and conceived and launched Blue Health Intelligence, a PE-backed SaaS analytics spinoff that grew to $23.1M in revenue.

Don has been deploying AI and machine learning in enterprise environments for more than 15 years - before it was called AI. He holds a certification in Artificial Intelligence Strategy from MIT Sloan School of Management and is a Certified AI Professional. He serves as Vice Chair of the Board of Directors at Trilogy Mental Wellbeing, Chicago’s largest mental health nonprofit, and is a member of the Private Directors Association’s National AI Governance Special Interest Group.
He is a Chicago Advisory Council Member, Speaker, and Panel Moderator at HMG Strategy, the world’s leading peer-to-peer platform for senior technology executives, and serves on the Innovation Advisory Council at Vation Ventures.

WHAT WE DO
We deliver four core capabilities:

We help organizations cut through the AI hype and build a clear, actionable path to responsible AI adoption. We start where AI actually starts - with an honest assessment of your data environment, content management practices, governance frameworks, and organizational readiness. AI is only as good as the processes and data behind it.

Current-state AI readiness assessment across people, process, and technology

AI roadmap development - prioritized, sequenced, and aligned to your business goals and risk tolerance

Governance framework design - policies, standards, and accountability structures for responsible, ethical AI deployment

Use case identification - where AI creates measurable outcomes and where it doesn’t

Executive and Board advisory - translating AI opportunity and risk into clear business language

We help organizations move from where they are to where they need to be - without disrupting the operations that keep the business running today. Digital transformation is not a technology project. It is a business initiative that requires leadership, discipline, and a clear-eyed view of what actually needs to change.

Current-state assessment - technology environment, business processes, vendor landscape, and cost profile

Transformation roadmap - prioritized and sequenced across people, process, technology, and financial realities

Process redesign and automation - map and understand the process before touching the technology

Platform modernization - ERP, CRM, HRIS, and cloud infrastructure migration without operational disruption

Vendor rationalization - consolidating overlapping tools, renegotiating contracts, building vendor accountability frameworks

FBC Alliance provides senior CIO and CTO-level executive leadership across the full spectrum of engagement models, from a focused 90-day assessment to a multi-year strategic partnership. Whether you need someone to step in immediately, govern at the Board level, or build toward a permanent hire, we deliver outcomes rather than recommendations.

Assessment & Roadmap - a focused 60–90 day current-state assessment delivering a prioritized, actionable transformation roadmap

Interim CIO/CTO - immediate senior technology leadership during a vacancy, crisis, or transition, available now, accountable for outcomes

Fractional CIO/CTO - dedicated senior technology leadership on a defined retainer, scaled to your needs and budget

Executive Advisory - ongoing CEO, Investor, and Board-level technology counsel without operational responsibility

Right-to-Hire - fractional or interim engagement with an optional path to permanent placement through FBC Alliance’s executive network

We work across your organization to ensure that IT Operations and Investments are properly aligned with business goals. Stakeholder engagement and inclusion help clarify how critical resources are prioritized and invested across ITOps, DevOps, and AIOps to create sustainable competitive advantages through the rational leverage of business process and IT.

FBC Alliance Accelerator Engagement Frameworks are purpose-built delivery models developed from more than three decades of enterprise technology leadership, repeatable, disciplined, and designed to deliver measurable outcomes without the open-ended timelines of traditional consulting engagements.
Each framework reflects a core FBC Alliance principle: understand the process before touching the technology, govern the work from the first day, and hold every initiative accountable to a business case that justifies itself.
These engagements are designed for organizations that need focused transformation, rapid capability building, or a structured foundation for growth, and need a senior technology executive who delivers, not just advises.
